Album Live From the Space Whale is complete and features our original members. Featuring album artwork by Nate White and Lacey Vilandry, this 40-minute album was recorded live in the Pink House home studio in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Mixed by Nick White of Inner Ear Studios and mastered by John Connolly in Burke, Virginia, this album effectively captures the essence of an action-packed Philosophunk performance. Each composition displays a unique combination of stylistic influences and varying levels of energy, while holding true to the transcendental Phunk at their core. Hailing from the mountain town of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Philosophunk is a dynamic phunk-rock band with elements of jazz, jam, and math-inspired melodies. This wide array of musical identities is brought about by each of its members distinct music backgrounds—all four of its members have been musically involved since they were kids, each of them following unique musical paths. Founding members Clifford Blum and Alex Paullin have been playing music together since meeting in a jazz improv class at James Madison University. They quickly developed a bond for like-minded music and began exploring their own artistry together. Their collective vision and musical connection would later become the foundation of Philosophunk’s unique sound and style. Now in their second iteration with Chris Volosevich on drums and Eric Schueler on bass, Philosophunk is pushing their musical boundaries more than ever! With Chris’s interactive play style and Eric’s intense bass chops, they are grooving harder than ever before! Supported by their following the "Philosophans", the members of Philosophunk are constantly grateful for the friends and opportunities that have helped them to create an unforgettable experience that’s reborn at every show.
